When Will I See You Again?

Those of us of a certain age will remember the song with those lyrics. The tune is running through my head as I type! But that’s not important. What is important is the sentiment. Most likely you would like to see all (or most) of your guests again, wouldn’t you? After all, the more business you have the better your bottom line will be. Even if growing your bottom line isn’t the be-all and end-all for you, it helps pay the bills, which keep on coming whether or not your property is filled to capacity.

You will make your guests feel very special if, once they’ve been back home for a couple of weeks, they receive some kind of communication from you, thanking them for their visit and expressing your sincere desire to see them again.

That communication can be a handwritten Thank You card, possibly containing a copy of a picture of the guests in front of your property (see “What’s In a Name” from 7/16/12), or it can be a follow-up email expressing the same sentiment, again including an attachment of the picture. Or it can simply be a quick email saying Thanks for your business. That is less personal but maybe that’s your style. It’s entirely up to you.

The important thing is to make that communication; to follow up on their visit. Doing so will greatly increase the odds that they’ll come back, because they’ll feel as though they mean something to you, and that makes us all feel good.
